NEWFOUNDLAND
AND LABRADOR
To qualify for an apprenticeship in Newfoundland and Labrador, first
complete a pre-apprenticeship program or find a shop that agrees
to take you on. You must work 7,200 hours in order to complete your
apprenticeship. The classroom portion of the Motor Vehicle (Body
and Paint) apprenticeship program in Newfoundland and Labrador is
held at College of the North Atlantic.
NOVA
SCOTIA
In Nova Scotia, you must first complete a pre-apprenticeship program
or find a shop that agrees to take you on. You must work 8,000 hours
in order to complete your apprenticeship. The classroom portion
of the Motor Vehicle (Body and Paint) apprenticeships are held at
Nova Scotia Community College.
PRINCE
EDWARD ISLAND
There are currently no training institutions on the Island that
offer the classroom component of a collision repair apprenticeship.
If you wish to start a collision repair apprenticeship in PEI, You
first need to find a shop willing to take you on as an apprentice.
You will be sent to a college out of province in order to attend
trade-school. You must spend four years total working in the shop
in order to complete your apprenticeship
NEW
BRUNSWICK
In order to qualify for an apprenticeship in New Brunswick, you
must first complete a pre-apprenticeship program or find a shop
that agrees to take you on as an apprentice. You must spend four
years working in the shop in order to complete your apprenticeship.
The classroom portion of the apprenticeship is offered in English
at New Brunswick Community College St. John campus and in French
at College Communitaire de Noveau Brunswick Bathurst Campus.
QUEBEC
The classroom portion of a collision repair apprenticeship is offered
as a two year program before your apprenticeship begins and is offered
at 15 different trade-schools across the province. You must work
between 6,000 and 8,000 hours in the shop in order to take your
journeyman exam.
ONTARIO
In order to start an apprenticeship in Ontario, you must first find
a shop willing to take you on as an apprentice. You must work 7,200
in the shop, and complete three 8 week technical training sessions
in order to complete your apprenticeship. The classroom portion
is available at Algonquin, Canadore, Centennial, Fanshawe and Mohawk
colleges.
MANITOBA
In order to qualify for an apprenticeship in Manitoba, You must
first complete a pre-apprenticeship program or find a shop that
agrees to take you on as an apprentice. You must spend four years
working in the shop and complete four 6-7 week technical training
sessions in order to complete your apprenticeship. The classroom
portion is available at Red River College.
SASKATCHEWAN
In order to qualify for an apprenticeship in Saskatchewan, you must
first complete a pre-apprenticeship program or find a shop that
agrees to take you on as an apprentice. You must spend four years
working in the shop and complete four 6-7 week technical training
sessions in order to complete your apprenticeship. The classrom
portion is available at SIAST Kelsey and Wascana Campuses.
ALBERTA
In order to qualify for an apprenticeship in Alberta, you must first
complete a pre-apprenticeship program or find a shop that agrees
to take you on as an apprentice. You must spend four years working
in the shop and complete four 6-7 week technical training sessions
in order to complete your apprenticeship. The classroom portion
is available at NAIT and SAIT.
BRITISH
COLUMBIA
In order to qualify for an apprenticeship in British Columbia, you
must first complete a pre-apprenticeship program or find a ship
that agrees to take you on as an apprentice. You must spend four
years working in the shop and complete three 5 week technical training
sessions in order to complete your apprenticeship. The classroom
portion is available at College of the rockies, Okanagan College,
BCIT, and Vancouver Community College.
TERRITORIES
There are currently no colleges that offer the classroom component
of a collision repair apprenticeship. If you wish to start a collision
repair apprenticeship in the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, or
Nunavut you first need to find a shop willing to take you on as
an apprentice and you will be sent to a college out of province
in order to attend trade-school. You must spend four years total
working in the shop in order to complete your apprenticeship.
