EMPLOYER
SERVICES
Funded
by the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training, JOB CONNECT provides
young people,
who are out of work, with the opportunity to gain the skills and
knowledge needed to find and keep a job. The objective of Employer
Services is to connect employers, willing to provide on-the-job
training and work experience, with young people eager and ready
to be trained and to become fully productive members of the workforce.
| Employers
benefit from JOB CONNECT'S free Employer Services as we: |
Ø save
employers time and money in the hiring process by identifying suitable
candidates for the job and pre-screening eligible participants
Ø assist
the employer with the development of a training plan
Ø support
the employer through monitoring the participant's on-the-job progress
Ø can
provide training incentives to defray some of the training costs.
| Employers
are invited to participate in JOB CONNECT if they are willing
to: |
Ø provide
quality supervision and training
Ø develop
a comprehensive training plan prior to the training
Ø provide
opportunities for job trials, on-the-job training placements or
on-going employment
Participating
employers must be legally permitted to operate in Ontario, must
be in compliance with all relevant employment legislation and collective
agreements, must have Third Party Liability Insurance and WSIB coverage
(or Workplace Safety Insurance) and must not be in layoff situation,
as we do not want existing employees to be aversely affected.
Ø 16
to 24 years of age and registered with JOB CONNECT at Mohawk
College.

TRAINING
SUBSIDIES
JOB
CONNECT supports trial placements of up to two weeks with full subsidy
based on minimum wage. This allows employer and client an opportunity
to assess the suitability of the position and the individual.
Example: 40 hrs X $6.85 x 2 weeks = $548.00 in subsidies.
JOB
CONNECT may also cover the cost of safety equipment, workboots,
hard hats, etc. to a maximum of $100.00
|

|
JOB
CONNECT provides employers with a training subsidy to defray costs
incurred during training based on a specific Training Plan developed
for the selected trainee.
A
typical training subsidy would be about $120 / week for a 12 -16
week training period.
Example: 12 - 16 weeks at $120/wk = $1,440 - $1,920 Training Subsidy*
JOB
CONNECT may also cover the cost of safety equipment, workboots,
hard hats, etc. to a maximum of $100.00
*The
actual amount is determined by the complexity of training required
and the ability and experience of the trainee.
* While the offer of full-time employment is - hopefully - the final
outcome, a placement may be discontinued at any time if the candidate
is found to be unsuitable, without further obligations on the employers'
part.
**
Employers must have Third Party Liability Insurance and WSIB coverage
(or equivalent Workplace Safety Insurance).
