Fraud
July
17, 2000
On
June 15, 2000 a male attended the Ontario Auto Body Shop at 778
Confederation Street to make arrangements to have his 25' boat trailer
painted 3-tone blue. A newer Ford pick-up truck was pulling the
trailer. The male picked the trailer up on June 19, 2000 and paid
for the work with a CIBC Visa cheque.
Around
this same time, a male dropped off a 1996 Yamaha Waverunner to be
repaired and painted. At this time, the male dealt with a different
employee. One June 21, 2000 this male picked up the Waverunner and
paid with a Toronto Dominion Visa cheque. Both cheques were returned
by the bank; one NSF and the other, "unauthorized signature". It
is believed that the two cheques were written by the same suspect
who falsely identified himself to two different employees at the
Ontario Auto Body.
The
suspect is described as a white male, 35 years of age, 200 pounds,
5'7" - 5'9", short dark hair and was well dressed and well spoken.
